Battle of

Toski - battle fought on August 3, 1899 betwee n the Anglo-Egyptian forces and insurgents of the Mahdi. Since it s seizure of Egypt in 1882, the British were involved in the war in Sudan. For this reason, the British army decided to reform the Egyptian army. British General Francis Grenfell was appointed supreme commander of the armed forces of Egypt and the British officers began the training of Egyptian soldiers. In 1889, Abdallahi ibn Muhammad was sent to Egypt, the Emir Wad el Nujumaniego which was extended to neighboring faith Mahdists Egypt.
