The battle was fought around the town of Tourcoing, France between the French army (70 000 soldiers) commanded by generals Souhama and Moreau and Austrian army of English-Hanover (74 000 soldiers) commanded by the Duke of York and Prince Frederick Josiah Coburg. The French lost 3,000 soldiers and 6 guns, while the defeated army of the allies had lost 5500 soldiers and 60 guns.
