Battle Torhenturm

took place on 2 May 1798, during the r evolution Helvetian 1798, fighting in the battle for the White Sw iss gun shooters in the strength of 4000 men, led by Aloys Reding were routed by the French forces and forced to surrender. After defeating the Swiss in the French across the country began requisitions of food, imposition of contributions and to engage in looting. Soon republic imposed a military alliance with France and the whole country became a French camp in the war.
